We rode through Siena, with an emphasis on through. Pretty cool place and worthy of a much longer investigation. Siena, Florence and the wine region in between were some of the most spectacular places on the trip.

I don't think we're moving, unless Jill has some explaining to do!

What an awesome trip, brother! You've been to some of my favorite places -- Amsterdam, Zurich, Bellagio (sister got married there), Florence (really a special place - maybe not in Aug though) and soon Rome. Are you riding through Siena? Course you're doing it them all th coolest way possible. Looking forward to comparing notes. BTW, you're moving?? If true, that's a story I need to hear. Also if true, you take a bike trip while the Mrs. moves?? You need to teach a class in negotiation.

When I get a chance, I'll look at my files more closely but my guess would be that the climb yesterday into Multepulciano was as steep or steeper than Barton Creek or Lost Creek and quite a bit longer. We have lower gearing than my road bike: 34/32 vs 39/27 (front/rear), so that helps a LOT, especially with bags. I'm not sure I could have done yesterday's final climb with my regular road bike.

I'll be home Saturday evening and will hopefully see you at the pool on Monday. In Viterbo now and we're heading out early tomorrow AM for Rome!

I rode Lost Creek Blvd. and Barton Creek Blvd. loop Tuesday and never know what slope I'm actually climbing. How does that compare to the hills you're hitting?
